If I see anything vital around me, it is precisely that spirit of adventure, which seems indestructible and is akin to curiosity.” — MARIE CURIE

Active Research

The 1421 Foundation is engaged with a number of research projects around the world which focus on early exploration of the world before 1492, notably with Yunnan University, committing to continued research, education, and outreach efforts.

Research Archive

Gavin Menzies researched and wrote 7 books in his lifetime. The Menzies Archive is a result of his work, and contains several hundred lever-arch files. In 2016 Gavin donated his research papers to Yunnan University Library. Yunnan University Library has established a sole data-centre and catalogue of the archives donated by Mr. Menzies. This data-centre is open to all teachers, students and the general public. The archive has also been digitally scanned and is available on request.

Independent Research

As well as carrying out our own research, the 1421 Foundation is also pleased to support, where possible, a variety of other independent researchers whose work resonates with ours. Some of these researchers have been working on their own projects for years before 1421 was first published, while others became interested in the subject after reading the book. Where possible, we would like to help them in the future, and part of our ethos is to support relevant research projects and assist with their fund-raising.
